Ciudad Real met Dzomba’s new team on the first day of the strong tournament Eurotornoi.
Ciudad Real Wins against Zagreb at the Eurotornoi
Dujshebaiev’s squad won 34:24 against a Zagreb missing Sola and Lazarov, two key players of the Croatian club. Dzomba was transferred to Zagreb after three successful years in Ciudad Real. The Croatian right winger scored seven goals on seeing his former team mates again, but it was still not enough to avoid a Spanish victory.
Ciudad Real had the usual strengths against Zagreb: strong defence and Sterbik. The Serbian goalkeeper saved 50% of all shots with the help of a 5-1 defence that Ciudad Real did really well. Roberto Garcia, Kallman and Davis were the players in the advanced position in this system. This strong defence allowed Ciudad Real to widen the gap between the two sides and the Croatians could not close it.
Rutenka in unusual position
Rutenka was the best scorer of Ciudad Real with seven goals. The Slovenian finished the match playing in the line player position to give some rest to Rolando Urios. It is a tactical possibility that Talant Dujshebaiev tried because it could be useful later on during the season.
The Spanish coach was very satisfied for the good performance of the new players. Rodriguez, Hjermind, Morros and Garcia scored half of all the Ciudad Real goals. The Danish Torsten Laen did not play this time. Entrerrios and Pajovic had physical problems and skipped the game too.
Another Spanish victory
Other results: BM Valladolid defeated Danish Copenhagen by 36:34 in an unusual game. Copenhagen took a 7-goal lead in the first half, but the Spanish team were able to level the game and won at the end. Eduard Fernandez and Zinika Mirosavljevic were the best scorers with 8 and 7 goals respectively.
