The Slovak champions hosted the Austrian A1 Bregenz in Presov. The match ends 31:26 for Presov, which was their first win since November 2005.
Presov defeat Bregenz
At the beginning of the match both teams showed equal performances and it was still equal in the 23rd minute (11:11). The home team increased the margin slowly, so first half ended with 15:12. Slovakian player Pekar had a good day and he simply could not be stopped by the Austrian defence line. In the 49th minute of second half, the Slovaks had a nine-goal lead already at 27:18. The guests did not have time and strength to level the game again. They only managed to come closer and make it 31:26 at the end.
It has to be said that during the entire match Presov had the lead and they deserved the two points at the end. Marian Hunady scored nine (three penalties) while Radovan Pekar scored seven goals for the home team. On the other side, Michael Knauth and Mare Hojc scored five goals each.
Great start
“This is a great result; we are on top of our table. These two points are very important for us because now we can prepare for future matches without pressure. Important is that we had a great start,” – said Martin Liptak, coach of Presov.
