Intensive days in Viborg
The Women’s CL team of Viborg HK is living exciting days. The fast and technically skilled left winger, Henriette Mikkelsen, is pregnant. The Danish national player is going to give birth to her first child next spring. This means that she has already played her last match of the season.
“Of course this is wonderful news for Henriette, and we are extremely happy about her,” said Michael Hansen, sports director of the club.
On the other hand, he also knows that Henriette Mikkelsen will miss the rest of the season, which is a problem for the team. Norwegian playmaker, Kristine Lunde, will be out for the first half of the season after a shoulder surgery anyway, so the club had to find a solution to replace Henriette Mikkelsen.
Famous player returns
One of Denmark’s most famous female handball players – though there have been many – Christina Roslyng Christiansen returns to top handball.
The 29-year old left winger, married to Flensburg’s Lars Christiansen, has signed a contract for the rest of this season with Danish top club and Champions League team, Viborg HK. Christian Roslyng is going to replace Henriette Mikkelsen.
Roslyng played for Viborg before and celebrated many triumphs with the team. A couple of years ago she retired from top handball to dedicate herself to family and her son.
“We are very happy to welcome Christina back in Viborg. She is an additional player to help our current left wingers, Gitte Aaen and Maria Fisker. We also believe that she can contribute to our team later – not least in the Champions League. She has a great willpower, skills and enormous experience,” said Michael Hansen, sports director.
Temporary help
Christina Roslyng emphasises that her comeback to top handball is only temporary, until the rest of this season.
“The management of Viborg think that I am the right person to help in the current situation and I could not say no to that request. I spent my best handball years in Viborg and this is my way to thank them for all the great experience this club has given me. Of course, I also see this as a chance to win the Champions League trophy – one of the few titles I have never won so far,” said Christina Roslyng. She also played for Horsens HK, KIF Kolding and Sønderjysk Elitesport apart from Viborg. She played 129 internationals for Denmark.
