Vardar: no worries
"We will play against Zagreb and Ademar Leon in four days. Vardar pro can only win in these two games. We did not calculate with points from these games. I know that Croatian champions and a Spanish team are strong favourites, but for me the most important is to play better and improve our form," these are the remarks of Veselin Vujovic, Vardar coach before the next big tasks of the FYR Macedonian team.
Vardar pro won the opening game in the CL against Kadetten, ending a bad tradition of losing the openers.
"Even when we lose games, I’d prefer to stay within 2-3 goals. The last matches will be crucial when Zagreb and Ademar come to Skopje. I hope that we'll be able to win some of these games," said Vujovic.
Minor changes now
Mite Karivanov will not be in the roster. Vujovic will bring three goalkeepers, Blazevic, Daskalovski and Mitreski, to Zagreb.
"Defence was our weakness. We have to improve here if want to be more competitive. Mitrevski was a hero in the first game, but I also expect Blazevic finally start to save in good form,” said Vujovic.
Vardar pro are expected to make more changes at the end of October. Vardar management are looking a back player, but couldn't find him so far. Vujovic is optimistic that they will sign a good player:
"First we have to reach next round. I have some names in my notes and we will see if it is realistic to get them,” said Vujovic.
Zagreb and Ademar with better record
Both teams, Zagreb and Ademar Leon have better results in the European Cup from their games against Vardar pro.
Zagreb eliminated Vardar from the semi-final of CWC in 2005 despite Vardar winning in Skopje. In 2002, Zagreb won both games in the CL group phase.
Ademar Leon played against Vardar pro in the 1999 CWC and won both games.
