Ribarroja's shock defeat  

After a defeat from Podravka Vegeta and just before the home match against Győr, Ribarroja lost the first two points in the Spanish Championship this season. The Spanish CL side were defeated at home by the seventh team on the Spanish league table, Alicante. The result was 20:21.

Tough week

Cementos La Union Ribarroja have a really tough week. On Sunday they lost in the first round of the CL in Koprivnica where they did not play well. On Thursday, they lost in the 8th round of the Spanish championship against Alicante. On top of all, Ribarroja will have to meet Győr on Saturday. These three matches in only seven days – without two injured players and with two more who are not completely fit – was simply too much for the Spanish.

Although Alicante are only seventh in Spain, with many young and inexperienced players, they managed to defeat Spanish Champions on their ground, in Ribarroja hall. The team of Gregorio Garcia did not start well and the guests kept pushing them. The home team went to break with a 10:8 lead.

In the second half when everybody thought that Ribarroja would break the resistance of the young Alicante, it happened the other way around. Ribarroja had problems in defence, while Alicante's defence showed great performance and gave a hard time for Ribarroja's backs.

The guests even had a two-goal lead at 15:17. Despite their poor performance, the fans did not really believe that home team could lose all the way until the very end. When the match finished, the Ribarroja fans had to realise that the team lost their first game of the season. It was 20:21 at the end, which is a great win for Alicante.

Convincing Győr

Győr seem to be in good form, on the other hand. They won against the CL winner Slagelse in the first round and they are the only undefeated team in the Hungarian Championship. Their best scorer in the Hungarian league was Anita Görbicz so far with 71 goals from eight matches. She was also the best scorer of Győr against Slagelse.

Gregorio Garcia also knows how dangerous she can be and he will prepare his team to guard her for sure.

Furious Ribarroja

Ribarroja are wounded now, but that does not mean that Győr will have an easy. At the famous Spanish bullfights, the bulls get very furious and dangerous when it is wounded. If it is true about the Spanish team, Győr have to expect a difficult game in Ribarroja 

The match between Cementos La Union Ribarroja and Győri Audi ETO KC will be played on Saturday at 16:30. The referees will be Vaclav Horacek and Jiri Novotny from the Czech Republic and delegate will be Jean Michel Germain from France. Canal 9, Viasat 3 and Eurosport 2 will broadcast the game live.
