Gyula Zsiga, coach of FTC, tells Eurohandball.com how to avoid a huge defeat in Valcea.
FTC to avoid defeat in Valcea
Hungarian champions, Ferencváros are in a difficult situation after the first three games in the Champions League. The team are still without a point and last of Group D. The next match of the Budapest-based team will be in Vâlcea. Gyula Zsiga will take a bus trip to the match.
Eurohandball.com: What conclusions did you draw from the analysis of the Viborg game?
Gyula Zsiga: We were not able to defend at the same level as before. I have seen an improving attack, but we were not too good in long range shots. We could not solve the marking of Popovic and Jurack and when we could, the other players – German and Danish national players – used their opportunities well.
Eurohandball.com: This time FTC had a true leader in the team...
Zsiga: When Helga Németh stepped on court for the second half, she could help with her goals and vision, so we could come back to four goals. I’m sorry about the endgame as we lost many balls and could not come any closer.
Eurohandball.com: How will you try to avoid a big defeat in Valcea?
Zsiga: It is important to be strong in a difficult environment. Then we also have to correct the mistakes we made in attack at the first match. The girls know Vâlcea by now and I hope that we will play a disciplined game and come away with a good result.
