Gille brothers stay in Hamburg
The captain stays on board – and also his brother will be “sailing with him” in the HSV ship. Hamburg made a great announcement: French internationals, Bertrand and Guillaume Gille, extended their contracts for three years, until 2011. Today they already signed their new contracts.
“It is very important for us that these two outstanding players continue in Hamburg,” said club’s boss, Andreas Rudolh on Thursday.
“With this deal we want to send out a signal for the future, a signal of continuity. The Gille brothers are not only leaders on court, but also idols off handball,” said Rudolph.
HSV coach, Martin Schwalb, was also very happy:
“It’s a good sign for our club that these world class players stay in Hamburg. It shows that they feel good here and the work in our club is okay. It shows that the team spirit is good.”
The Gille brothers, who have been playing in Hamburg for a long time, are also satisfied.
“I know, that we are on the right way now. We still have a lot of objectives and we want to reach them all,” said Guillaume Gille. “I like living and playing here – and the team is top class,” he added.
His brother, Bertrand, added: “Two years ago it was not clear if the “project HSV” would be successful. But now everybody knows it is. We improved a lot, the team are better and won titles. However, I want more titles. So it was obvious to sign a new contract.”
