The coach of FTC Budapest was satisfied with the motivation of the team against Buducnost and he expects corageous play against Viborg as well.
Zsiga: A matter of prestige
Eurohandball.com asks coach of Budapest Bank-FTC, Gyula Zsiga, what was the secret of having a motivated team for the game against Buducnost.
Eurohandball.com: What does it feel to have your first CL points?
Gyula Zsiga: Great, especially because we could win with a convincing difference. To be fair, we have to say that it was apparent that our opponents missed their best player, Marija Jovanovic.
I would like to emphasise three important things: good backcourt performance, few mistakes from the wings and all 7-m shots converted. This last thing did not happen for a very long time now.
Eurohandball.com: How could you motivate the team so well?
Zsiga: The most important was to reach that the girls believe in themselves, in the work they have done. They have to be motivated for all games. I felt during the week that it was a matter of prestige for the girls. We could have won the first match and we wanted to prove it in front of our home crowd I hope that the success will give us strength and we can go on like this.
Eurohandball.com: You should clinch the third place and the Cup Winners’ Cup in Viborg. Do you think you have a chance against the Danish side that suffers from many problems?
Zsiga: I have seen all their matches and they played in a different formation all the time. They have many players. Kristine Lunde has also recovered after her shoulder injury and she already played against Valcea.
The match can have two outcomes: as we are a young team we can feel that it is a great honour to play against such a good team – as we did at home against Viborg and Valcea – or we try to be determined. I hope that we will chose the second option and we weill play with courage against the Danes.
