Nine players leaving Slagelse
No less than nine players of the Champions League winner Slagelse DT will leave the club at the end of the season. All of them will follow head coach Anja Andersen who will take over coaching staff of FCK Håndbold, as Eurohandball.com reported earlier.
The nine players:
Cecilie Leganger (NOR), goalkeeper
Emiliya Turey (RUS), winger, World champion
Maja Savic (MNE), winger
Ana Batinic (SRB), right back
Mette Melgaard (DEN), line player
Marianne Bonde (DEN), line player
Melanie Smith Nielsen (DEN), winger and defence specialist
Line Hovgaard (DEN), winger and defence specialist
Anne Loft (DEN), defence specialist
It was also announced earlier that Serbian international left back, Tanja Milanovic, will join FCK Håndbold from Ikast-Bording at the end of the season.
Aiming to win the Champions League
“All the players have chosen themselves where they wanted to play. There was no pressure of any kind on them,” Anja Andersen said as FCK announced their squad for next season.
“In our first year we want to qualify for the Champions League. In the second year we want to win it,” Anja Andersen added.
Apart from the ten new players, 13 FCK players were also confirmed for the coming season and the squad will include at least players for the next season.
At the same time, Slagelse are trying to build the team of the future.
“I hope that we will soon be able to announce the new main sponsor and the new head coach,” Slagelse’s chairman, Iver Grunnet, said.
Both FCK and Slagelse still have the chance to qualify for next year’s Champions League.
