Valcea are ready for the clash against Győr. The best ranked teams of the Main Round Group 1 will be fighting for the group victory on Sunday.
Valcea aim to win derby
Valcea players are aware that Győr – together with Hypo – are the only team who won every single game this season. The Romanians are just one point behind Hungarians after two games, but a win in Győr would mean for the girls from Valcea that they would be favourites for the first place.
“We definitely go to Győr to win the game. Our defence will be the key to success. If we’ll manage to stop their wings and Görbicz, we have a great chance to beat Győr,” says three-time CL winner goalkeeper, Luminita Dinu.
“One looks sure to me: Valcea are going to qualify for the semi-finals. I think we can return to Romania with 2 points in our bags,” adds backcourt player, Narcisa Lecusanu.
Coach Tadici is sure that the game will be tough for Valcea:
“Győr have Pálinger, one of the best three goalkeepers in the world today. Still, Pálinger is not unbeatable, so we’ll try to take advantage of her weaknesses.”
Apart from Pálinger, Tadici will pay special attention to Győr star, Anita Görbicz.
“We found three different ways to stop Görbicz. I’m sure that one of these will work,” says Tadici.
Last year Valcea played in Hungary twice on their winning road in the Cup Winner’s Cup. First against Cornexi, 25-25, and then against FTC Budapest, a game that ended with a 28-27 victory for Valcea that qualified for the final.
