Spanish news in brief
Elda win Spanish league
Elda won their last game of Spanish league against Sagunto and retained the women's title in Spain. Itxako Navarra finished second after a long fight for the gold medals. It was a very exciting last round of the Spanish League with Elda and Itxako playing for the title. These two teams will play in the Champions League next season.
Elda are usual guests of the European elite, but Itxako never played the Champions League before. The team of a small town in Navarra, near Pamplona, have reached the European level in only eight years. Ambros Martin, former Portland San Antonio player, is the coach of this young club.
Portland coach sacked
Portland San Antonio have officially announced that Javier Cabanas will not continue as coach of the club.
Cabanas took over from Zupo Equisoain at the beginning of the season, but Portland caused disappointment with a fourth place in the Spanish League and Main Round exit in the Champions League.
Party in Ciudad Real
The season is over. With no matches left, the pressure is off the players now. This will be a perfect time for Ciudad to celebrate.

The players will visit the Mayor’s Office and receive the Asobal League trophy. This and the other four titles will be shown to the fans from the balcony.
