CL Main Round Draw

The Group Phase of the Women’s Champions League has come to an end last weekend. The eight teams to continue in the Main Round are set.

The draw for the Main Round will take place on Tuesday, 20 January 2009 at 11hrs in the EHF Headquarters, Vienna.

Regulations

The eight teams will be drawn into two groups of four. Both groups will include two winners of the current group phase and two ranked second teams. As it is always the case, teams coming from the same group will not meet again in the Main Round.

While there is a basic Main Round playing schedule in the Regulations of the Women’s Champions League, the European Handball Federation reserves the right to make the necessary adaptations with regards to TV requirements. A finalised playing schedule, therefore, will only be published days after the draw.

Main Round facts

The first two ranked teams of the Main Round groups will qualify for the semi-finals. The winner of a group will meet the second ranked team of the other group, and the second leg matches of the semi-finals will be played on the home court of the group winners.

The Main Round will be played over six weekends in February-March.
