Nine European teams secured a place for the Men’s U21 World Championship in Egypt this weekend.
Men's U21 WCh Qualification Europe
Europe has 12 places at the Men’s U21 World Championship in Egypt (IHF Event). The Final Tournament will be played from 6 to 19 August 2009.
Denmark (winner of the 2008 M20 European Championship), Germany (runner-up of the 2008 M20 ECh) and France (3rd at the 2008 M20 ECh) were already qualified. Therefore, 9 further European teams could qualify via the qualification Europe for the Final Tournament. The qualification was played in 8 groups of 4 teams with the following results:
Group 4 (2 teams qualified, as decided by draw): Netherlands, Iceland
Group 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8 (1 team qualified from each group): Sweden, Portugal, Spain, Slovenia, Estonia, Czech Republic, Belarus
Substitutes:
No. 1: Norway (2nd Group 1)
No. 2: Poland (2nd Group 3)
No. 3: Switzerland (2nd Group 6)
