Ciudad Real: ambitions unchanged
After more than ten years playing in the elite, Alberto Entrerrios is determined to continue on the same level as before with Ciudad Real.
This will be a huge challenge for the team after losing players such as Stefansson, Pajovic, Urios and Rutenka. Nevertheless, the experienced back player, Entrerrios is optimistic:
“We had a difficult season with many injuries. Four players were injured every game and it was hard at the most important matches. This season will be even more difficult in this respect, because now we will have a smaller squad.
“The integration process is very easy at the club. Nobody had problems ever,” he added.
Strong middle back position
Canyellas joined Ciudad Real. The middle back of Granollers arrived after Rutenka left the team. Canyellas is a playmaker just as Chema Rodriguez, but every season Entrerrios had to play in this position too.
“My role within the team will not change much. If last season I played 60% in the middle and 40% in left back, perhaps next year it will be the other way round. It will depend from the injuries or from the form of the players.”
Gull returns
When Eric Gull left Barcelona to play in the Arabic Emirates, many believed that his career was over. Gull did not have good experience at the Catalonian club and he was looking for new challenges.
Now the Argentine player will have a big chance at Ciudad Real. Ciudad signed Gull to replace Olafur Stefansson.
“It will be very difficult. He is a great player who does not make mistakes. I can promise hard work and great motivation. I will try to shoot well and work together with the wingers and the pivot,” Gull said.
“Everybody knows the style of Ciudad. They have a very well structured defence and great goalkeepers. They carry out fast breaks and shoot quickly. I played together with Davis, Chema and Parrondo in Valladolid; with Jerome Fernandez in Barcelona and I know Evdokimov from Chekhov. He is a great guy and very good player,” the player explained. However, it will be hard to beat the biggest rival, Barcelona.
“I no longer play for Barcelona. I only focus on Ciudad Real and we know that our rival is Barcelona. Our real target is to beat them and I hope we will succeed,” Gull concluded.
