EURO 2010: host broadcaster tour
The quality of TV broadcasts at EHF EURO events is a vitally important ingredient in the success of the EURO tournaments. As the number of viewers is growing worldwide with every EURO Event, high quality performance from the host broadcaster and a good coordination with the national channels is fundamental.
Broadcasters visit venues
The TV host broadcaster tour for EHF EURO 2010 took place between the 29th September and the 1st October 2009.
This gave ORF, host broadcaster of EHF EURO 2010, alongside with Infront, Telekom Austria, the Austrian Organising Committee and the local organisers the opportunity to explain technical details to the unilateral broadcasters. The national TV channels were presented the TV areas at the venues, studio platforms, camera positions and other technical specifications as a preparatory step before the EURO.
The visiting national channels, TV2 Denmark, ARD/ZDF Germany, TV4 Sweden, TV2 Norway and HRT Croatia, attended four venues (Vienna, Graz, Linz and Innsbruck this time) and viewed the facilities.
Such an occasion is ideal to discuss technical requirements, spaces in the television compound, studio and camera requirements.
Steadily increasing audience figures
The enormous attention of handball fans in the EURO Events can be measured in the TV viewer figures. The Men’s EHF EURO 2008 in Norway attracted 1.2 billion viewers worldwide, which is a record in the history of the EURO Events.
Apart from the most traditional handball countries, a widening of the TV market could also be observed, which is a sign of the growing popularity of the game.
Infront Sports & Media is the exclusive commercial partner for the European Handball Federation’s premier national team event. The Swiss-based sports marketing group has the responsibility for both the television distribution and marketing of the European Handball Championship events on a worldwide basis.
EURO 2010 media accreditation
The organisers of EHF EURO 2010 are proud to welcome the international media representatives for the event. The accreditation procedure has begun on 1 October 2009 and will run until 30 November 2009.
