Seedings published for EHF Men’s CL

The seeding list for the EHF Men’s Champions League 2010/11 season has been finalised. You can find the teams, the pots and the most important competition dates in the pdf below.

2010/11 EHF Men’s Champions League seeding

The draw for the EHF Champions League 2010/11 season will be carried out on 22 June 2010 in Vienna. You can watch it live on www.ehfTV.com or follow the live graphic presentation on www.eurohandball.com.

Qualification Tournaments

A total of eight teams (ranked 23 to 30) will take part in the Qualification Tournaments. These clubs will be seeded in four pots and drawn into two groups of four. The two winners of these groups will qualify for the Group Phase. After defining the teams, the organisation rights of the groups will also be decided by draw.

In addition, a Wild Card Tournament will be organised at a venue to be defined later. The winner of the Wild Card Tournament will reach the Group Phase and will be ranked at 17th position.

Group Phase pots

A total of 24 teams will take part in the Group Phase of the EHF Men’s Champions League 2010/11 season and they will form four groups of six teams. The six pots for the draw are marked in the document with broken lines.

Please note: two teams are already set for pot six; the two winners of the Qualification Tournaments will join them.

Protection for teams

In the Group Phase of the EHF Men’s Champions League, no team can meet another team from the same National Federation. However, this protection does not apply for the winner of the Wild Card Tournament.

New teams in the EHF Champions League

The 2010/11 season promises exceptionally high quality games in the Group Phase with all the European top teams lined up for the competition. At the same time, the EHF Men’s Champions League will welcome new clubs: AaB Handball from Denmark and St. Petersburg HC from Russia will meet the elite for the first time ever.
