2011 Men's World Championship Draw
It is only a little more than five months to go until the start of the 2011 Men’s World Handball Championships (IHF Event) that will take place in Sweden between 13 – 30 January 2011.
This week, the city of Gothenburg plays host to the Partille Cup, a major annual youth handball tournament also including an EHF Event, the European Open. This year the Younger Age Category national team tournament will be a Women’s Under 18 competition.

EHF representatives meeting the IHF
On this occasion in Gothenburg, the Finance Delegation of the EHF including President Tor Lian, Vice-president Jean Brihault, Treasurer Ralf Dejaco and Secretary General Michael Wiederer, will meet the Executive Committee of the International Handball Federation.
World Championship Draw
On the occasion of these tournaments, the Final Tournament Draw for the World Championship will be held in the Scandinavium on Friday 9 July 2010 at 18:15hrs.
Tickets for the final, the semi-finals and the games of the host nation are already available. All other tickets will be up for sale from 10 July 2010 – available via Ticnet, www.ticnet.se, as well as at the venues.
”This is going to be exciting. However the draw ends, high quality matches at all venues are guaranteed. It feels good to be able to offer this to the Swedish sports fans,” Arne Elovsson, director of the Men’s Handball World Championship 2011 stated.

Europe: Austria, Croatia, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Norway, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden
Asia: Bahrain, Japan, South Korea
Africa: Algeria, Egypt, Tunisia
Pan-America: Argentina, Brazil, Chile
Oceania: Australia
Draw procedure
The teams of Pot 1 are drawn to groups A – D in row 6, then the teams in Pot 2 are drawn to row 5, then Pot 3 to row 4, Pot 4 to row 3 and the teams in Pot 5 are drawn to row 1. Then organiser Sweden has the right to assign itself to a group of its choice. After that the remaining teams in Pot 6 are drawn to row 2 of the groups A – D.
