Erić: “Exciting season ahead"

She is one of the best players in the Danish league, where she was elected best left back in 2007/2008. The experienced Serbian international Jelena Erić talks about great achievements in Randers. And the 30 year old is still hungry for more trophies.

ehfCL.com: How do you look back on the victory over last year’s finalist Oltchim Valcea in Randers' first ever EHF Champions League match?

Jelena Erić: We are all very happy over our successful start. This is our first ever season in the European top tournament and this victory is very important for our confidence. I have to admit that it is a big challenge to compete in the EHF Champions League, not only for me but for the entire team. We have worked hard entire last season to reach CL and now when we are in the Main round we will give our best.

ehfCL.com: You arrived in Randers last season and have already won the EHF Cup trophy and also played in Danish Championship finals. Was it easy to adapt to the new team?

Jelena Erić: I have been playing in Danish league for four years now, so it was not too hard for me to get to used to work in Randers. I have quickly adapted to the team.

ehfCL.com: With the confidence after defeating Valcea, whata are your team's season objectives?

Jelena Erić: Compared to last season our team has become stronger with the arrival of the Danish internationals Okkels and Melgaard. We play good handball, so I hope that we will stay in the EHF Champions League as long as possible. In the Danish Championship I expect that we will play in the finals again with one small change – this time we will win it!

ehfCL.com: What are your expectations of the upcoming game in Larvik?

Jelena Erić: Valcea and Larvik are far better teams than the ones we played against in the qualification tournaments. But we clearly proved that we can play against Oltchim, so I don’t see why we need to be worried about the Larvik match. It will be difficult, but we will give our best.

ehfCL.com: Regarding your successful start, do you think it could be another great season for Randers?

Jelena Erić: I hope so, but still many matches are ahead of us. For sure this will be an exciting and interesting season.
