After losing to Krim, Podravka's new coach, Neven Hrupec, expects more from the match against Györ.
Hrupec: “Nothing is lost“
The Croatian champions had a bad start into this EHF Champions League season, as Coach Neven Hrupec, successor to Zdravko Zovko, lost his first CL match.
But he’s not discouraged after the defeat inflicted by Krim Mercator: "Nothing is lost. Our plan is to go match by match. We don’t want to plan ahead, as we know our goal for this season and we’ll continue to focus match by match. Right now we are focused on the match in Györ."
Despite a home defeat in the first round, Hrupec is not worried. His plan is to take revenge in the away match: A defeat against Krim means nothing. We’ll try to fight back in Ljubljana and I hope we will succeed. But I have to say that, at that point, Krim was the better team."
Despite the tough task in next round, when Podravka will visit Györ, the coach is convinced that his team still has great potential, especially at the goalkeeper position: "Our goalkeeper Jelčić played very well in the first round (13 saves in 42 minutes). Žderić is young and she needs more time on court. They are both good goalkeepers and I can rely on both of them."
