2011/12 EHF Women's Champions League, Main Round
In the Main Round, the teams placed first and second in the Group Matches meet in two groups of four teams each.
After six rounds the final ranking of the Main Round will automatically give us the four teams playing in the semi-finals, no separate draw will be necessary.
The second of Main Round Group 2 will meet the winner of Group 1, and the second of Main Round Group 1 will meet the winner of Group 2, with the first named teams playing the first match at home.
Draw procedure and Pots
The four group winners are in Pot 1, the four teams finishing ranked second are in Pot 2.
Teams from Pot 1 can only land on position 1 or 2 of the two groups, teams from Pot 2 in position 3 and 4. The position has an effect on the match schedule.
Teams that were in the same Group Matches group will be protected, and can therefore not land in the same Main Round group.
Pot 1
Pot 2
In step one a team from Pot 1 is drawn, in step two a position will be drawn for the team. This is repeated for all four Pot 1 teams.
Possible positions for Pot 1 teams:
-
Group 1, Row 1
-
Group 1, Row 2
-
Group 2, Row 1
-
Group 2, Row 2
As teams from the same Group Matches groups cannot be in the same Main Round group, it is clear for the remaining four Pot 2 teams in which group they will go.
Consequently, in step three of the draw a team is drawn, and in step four a position is allocated.
Possible positions for Pot 2 teams:
