Andersson leaves THW Kiel

After seven years and the VELUX EHF Champions League titles Kim Andersson is saying farewell to THW Kiel.

After winning the title thanks to the 26:21 final victory in Cologne on Sunday (including seven Andersson goals), the Swedish international left back announced that he will join AG Kobenhavn for next season due to family reasons, stating: "I want to be closer to my home country."

"THW Kiel will always be in my heart," he added. "I am so proud to have at this club for seven years, seven years which have imprinted my whole life. THW is a very special club – and I had the chance to be in this great team with great players for a long time, this club is unique."

The transfer to Kobenhavn had been expected in 2013 when his contract at THW Kiel was due to end, but the left-handed world star has decided to leave one year earlier. "I hope I can have the same success with AGK as I had with Kiel," Andersson hopes for the future.

The VELUX EHF FINAL4 final was his last international match for Kiel. Two more league matches will follow until Saturday, then it is over for Andersson.

His successor will be Serbian international Marko Vujin, who arrives from MKB Veszprem and has signed a contract until 2015. Meanwhile, two AGK players will travel into the opposite direction: Left wing Gudjon Valur Sigurdsson and pivot Rene Toft Hansen join THW from the next season.
