Partille Cup promotes VELUX EHF FINAL4
Stefan Lövgren, ambassador of the VELUX EHF FINAL4, is promoting Europe's biggest club handball event at Europe's biggest youth handball event in Sweden.
The Partille Cup is Europe's biggest youth handball festival, taking place in the centre of the Swedish city of Gothenburg.
Stefan Lövgren has won more medals than most international handball players. He has, in total, 29 titles from in the national team, Redbergslid and Kiel. But winning the Champions League was something special.
In 2007 Lövgren and Kiel won the medal – on home ground. Today he’s the manager of the Swedish national federation alongside his role for the VELUX EHF FINAL4.
Talking at the Partille Cup, he was asked what it was like to win the EHF Champions League.
"Fantastic," he said. "There are not many people who get to experience that, but I was lucky to play in a top team in Europe, who was aiming to win the Champions League for the first time and made it.
"But to be honest, I dont think there’s a big difference between winning the Champions League and winning Partille Cup."
He continued: "In both tournaments you are competing against clubs from other nations. Of course there are differences too. In the Champions League there are 20,000 spectators and stars on the field.
"But if you make it to Champions League as a player, you have already experienced so much that you don’t think of it very much. In Partille Cup there are also a lot of spectators and the future stars on the field, so I think the feeling of winning is the same."
