In Qualification Phase 1, there are three groups of four teams and one group of three teams.
Qualification Europe Phase 1
On Tuesday 24 July 2012 the Qualification Europe for the 2013 Women’s World Championship in Serbia was drawn at the EHF Headquarters, Vienna (AUT). The draw decided the fixtures for Qualification Phase 1.
In Qualification Phase 1, there are three groups of four teams and one group of three teams. The qualification phase 1 will be played over three weeks in home and away matches starting in October 2012 with round 1 and 2. If all teams of the group agree, the matches can be played in a format of a tournament.

Only the winner of the group qualifies for Qualification Phase 2. The four winners will then meet the 12 of the 14 teams already qualified for the play-off matches. The top two ranked teams from EHF EURO 2012 in Serbia will also qualify directly to the World Championship. The play-off matches will be played on 1/2 and 8/9 June 2013.
The winners of the play-off matches qualify for the Final Tournament of the 2013 Women’s World Championship in Serbia from 7 to 22 December 2013.
