Sweden looking for new coach

Just over three months before the Women’s EHF EURO throws off in Serbia, the Swedish Handball Federation has announced that it is looking for a replacement coach.

After a poor Olympic Games performance for the Swedish team, coach Per Johansson, has decided that it is time to stand down from the position he has held for the past eight years. His team failed to win any games in London and finished in last place in Group B of the Preliminary Round.

Commenting on his decision to the Swedish Handball Federation’s website, Johansson said: “I am proud of the previous results we have achieved with this team, and we have also enjoyed great success, so it is with no bitterness that I have decided to stand down. It feels good to hand over a national team in December that will play its seventh straight major championship."

Sweden will play in Group B of the Women’s EHF European Championship in December, against France, Denmark and FYR Macedonia in Nis.

More information on the EHF European Championship in Serbia can be found on the event's official website - www.ehf-euro.com - fans can also follow the event via the official Facebook Page.
