15,000 tickets sold in just four days

The Organising Committee of the 2012 Women’s EHF European Championship has confirmed that all Preliminary Round Group A matches in Belgrade have been moved from the Pionir Arena to the Kombank Arena.

Serbia’s largest indoor arena, which seats up to 23,000 people, will now play host to Europe’s top women’s handball players for 20 matches during EHF EURO 2012 from 4 December to 16 December.

The Kombank Arena will be the venue for all six Group A matches, nine Main Round matches as well as the placement match, semi-finals and finals. It is the largest venue ever to have been selected to host Women’s EHF European Championship matches.

The Kombank Arena was the venue for the Main Round and the Finals of the Men’s EHF EURO 2012 in Serbia in January 2012. The venue was sold out on all five match days and more than 20,000 fans created a spectacular atmosphere.

It is now for the first time that Preliminary Round matches will be played in Kombank Arena and with reigning champions Norway and host nation Serbia both seeded in Group A, it can be expected that the arena will be sold out once again.

With a little more than two months to go before the championship throws off, tickets for the Women’s EHF EURO 2012 went on sale on Monday, 17 September and, boosted by huge interest, more than 15,000 tickets have already been sold.

More than 1,000 Norwegian fans have already booked tickets for the entire tournament to support their team and organisers are hopeful that fans from Serbia and abroad will pack all four venues to capacity for almost every match.

Tickets can be purchased via the online ticket shop on www.ehf-euro.com. They are available in five price categories (six for the final weekend) and prices start from just 6 EUR.

Fans can also buy discounted ticket packages to follow their team in the Preliminary and the Main Round. This special offer ends on Monday, 15 October 2012.
