Mijatović as last Dinamo Minsk reinforcement

After several years playing in Spain (Toledo, Alcobendas, Antequera), Montenegrin national team goalkeeper is changing setting - Rade Mijatović (31) signed a contract for one year with the Belarusian champion Dinamo Minsk, who will play in this season’s VELUX EHF Champions League.

"I hope everything will be OK and that I will not have much trouble adapting to a new club. Especially since the current coach of Dinamo Sergey Bebeshko worked for many years in Spain, we know each other well, and I think he is teaching a similar type of ‘Spanish handball’,” commented Rade Mijatović.

In June, Mijatović played two excellent games against Sweden and was one of key players in the win against the Scandinavians which gave the men’s national team of Montenegro a ticket to the IHF World Championship in Spain.

However, he did not want to rush the selection of a new team:

"I was just waiting to make a right choice. So, I got that offer and I accepted. I did not want to just take anything, and I think I made a good move going to Dinamo Minsk," added Mijatović.

In Minsk he has joined up with his teammate from the national team, left back Vasko Ševaljević.

"Vasko has been there for two months, and he is already starting to fit in. I believe that he will act as my host for my first days in Minsk and at Dinamo. After a while I think I am going to look after him, since I'm a little older then him," commented Mijatović with a smile.

For the first time in his career, Mijatović will play in the VELUX EHF Champions League.

"This is a nice challenge. I won titles with clubs, I played for the national team, but so far I have never managed to play in an elite competition," stated the Montenegrin.

Mijatović believes he can perform for Dinamo, especially since he has such high ambitions like the club he is joining.

"Dinamo is the best team in Belarus, and a team that will give it their best in the VELUX EHF Champions League,” concluded Mijatović, who joined his new teammates on Wednesday, and will make a debut for Dinamo on Sunday, when the Belarusian team play away against Füchse Berlin, the first game in Group D of VELUX EHF Champions League.

Mijatovic's career began in Sutjeska, and then played in the Serbian club Vojvodina and Partizan, Red Star, before in 2008 he made the move to Spain.
