Dissinger back for Kadetten

It took him exactly 351 days to return to the court – but now Christian Dissinger is back on track for Kadetten Schaffhausen. In summer 2011 the young German, who had just become junior world champion and was awarded Most Valuable Player at the world championship, signed a contract at Kadetten to improve his skills and be on international court.

But in his very first VELUX EHF Champions League home match against the defending champions FC Barcelona Intersport on 6 October 2011 Dissinger slipped on the floor, twisted his knee – and knew straight away that a major injury had occurred. The diagnosis: rupture of the crucial ligament.

He was out for months, went to American fitness guru Mark Verstegen for the summer to recover completely – and last weekend Dissinger had his comeback in the Kadetten jersey.

In the league match against HC Kriens-Luzern he returned to the court in the second half, started in defence, but then scored twice from two attempts to lead his team to a 26:23 victory.

Now Dissinger hopes to be part of the Kadetten squad in their much-anticipated opening match in the 2012/13 VELUX EHF Champions League. And as fate would have it for the young German, the first opponent for the Swiss champions is again... FC Barcelona Intersport.
