Serbia shoot official EHF EURO video clip

EHF EURO 2012 hosts Serbia took a day off from their week-long build up for the European Championship to shoot the 16-nation event’s official video clip on Wednesday.

Serbia are preparing in the town of Petrovac na Mlavi, where they will play two friendly matches with neighbours Croatia (on 4 and 6 October), but hard work took a back seat – albeit for a day – as they headed for the studio.

Judging by the players’ reactions, it was a memorable experience for them in New Belgrade’s Zepter studio, where the project got underway.

“It will be completed in about 10 or 15 days and the girls really enjoyed it, they were great in front of the camera,” said Serbia’s team director Milan Stankovic.

“The production team told me after the session that they were a lot more natural and relaxed than the men’s team, who had the same task ahead of the men’s European Championship in January,” he added.

The clip will run hand in hand with the competition’s official anthem, a song resembling the “Never Forget” tune composed by Nikola Cuturilo and performed by Ogi Radivojevic for the Men’s EHF EURO 2012.

“It will be just as appealing to the fans. The video clip was shot in two separate sets: one involving the whole national team and the other comprising six players, coach Sasa Boskovic and myself,” Stankovic elaborated.

He also stressed the players chose breathtaking outfits which will leave many fans in two minds about their identity when the clip goes public.

“They first wore their national team kits, then jeans and finally evening dresses and makeup. I think many people will have trouble realising it’s the same group of women, which is exactly what the producer wanted – to create an intriguing and appealing video and not just to go through the motions. We all had so much fun doing this.”

Jelena Eric, one of Serbia’s most experienced players, offered her account on the day-long shoot.

“We are all elated, it was quite simply unbelievable,” she said. “We worked with great professionals and all the girls are so excited because both sets were perfect.”

The Serbian Handball Federation did a great job to set this up and make it happen because this is exactly the kind of affirmative action women’s handball needs to flourish. Everyone will benefit from it, most of all those involved in the EHF EURO 2012 and next year’s World Championship in Serbia.”
