Serbia launch EHF EURO 2012 anthem

With five weeks to go until the start of the eagerly awaited EHF EURO 2012 in Serbia, the competition’s official anthem has been launched and its lyrics will be instantly recognised by fans who attend the 16-nation event taking place 4-16 December.

The “Never Forget” tune, composed by Nikola Čuturilo, is almost a carbon copy of the anthem he designed for the men’s EURO 2012 in January, although some of the words and the performers have been altered.

While Ogi Radivojević drew incessant rounds of applause from fans during the men’s tournament in January, it is now up to some rising young talents  to do the same in the four cities hosting EURO 2012 – Belgrade, Novi Sad. Niš and Vršac.

The Serbian version of the song (which can be watched here) will be performed by 15-year old Ada Mihajlović, whose music talents also include playing the violine, 10-year old Ralja Brajović and Danilo Čuturilo, the latter also being a guitar player in the making, as well as by 11-year old Ivan Manojlović.

The English version, on the other hand, will be performed by Zoja Vasić and Ana Protulipac of the Master Blaster pop and rock school.

The song is to be released soon and the success of January’s version should guarantee instant popularity for the women’s EHF EURO 2012 anthem, especially when it is co-opted with the tournament’s official video recently shot by the Serbian national team and coaching staff.

The video clip, to be launched soon, includes footage of the players wearing nationl team kits, casual jeans wear and finally evening dresses and make up, with the aim of quizzing the fans and testing their ability to spot the individual players at once in all three sequences.

The combined effort will no doubt provide for spectacular time-outs, halftime breaks and side-events during EURO 2012.
