Confident victory against Italy in the European qualification for the Women’s World Championship Play-Offs
Belarus about to challenge Poland
Belarus remain Poland's only true competitor in Group 3 of the European qualification for the 2013 Women’s World Championship Play-Offs.
One day after the Polish side kept their 100 percent record by beating Lithuania, Belarus easily took the points from Italy with a clear 30:16 (11:9) victory.
Before the last three rounds of this qualification phase throw off, the Belarussian team are only two points behind Poland.
Hanna Stsipanava and Karyna Yezhykova (best scorer of the whole competition to date with 21 goals) were the top scorers for the victors with six goals each in Roveretto, while Giusy Ganga topped the Italian scorer list with five goals.
The Italians remain on two points and are out of the race for the first position, which is the only spot to secure the qualification for the Play-Offs in June 2013.
On Sunday the re-match of this encounter will be played in Mogilev, while Poland have an easy away match at Lithuania.
If Poland beat Italy and Lithuania, the final duel against Belarus will most likely be decisive – but still the Polish side are in clear advantage after winning the first leg against the Belarussian team 29:19.
