Poland ahead of 'most important match'

East European team feels the anxiety ahead of Belarus encounter despite ten-goal lead

Poland ahead of 'most important match'

Poland have come through the first five qualification matches for the 2013 Women's World Championship Play-Offs unscathed.

Two wins each against Lithuania and Italy as well as a convincing 29:19 against Belarus mean that Danish coach Kim Rasmussen's squad is now the overwhelming favourite for the top spot in Group 3 which would guarantee them a place in the Play-Offs.

“These games were not easy for us. They required a lot of the concentration and also patientience from our team," says Poland's line player Monika Stachowska.

In Group 3 the decision for the group winner will now be made in the very last encounter when Belarus host Poland on Sunday, 2 December, in the Belarusian city of Mogilev.

Poland are two points ahead of Belarus. And Leonid Brazinsky’s team needs to beat Polish side by more than ten goals to qualify for the Play-Offs.

“The most important match for us will be in Mogilev where we will play against Belarus," Stachowska says.

"We know that host want to make up for the loss. We are ready for the tough game there."
