Champions Norway arrive and looking forward to the challenge

Every afternoon the European Handball Federation publishes a brief summary of the stories that have gone online on the EHF EURO 2012's dedicated website ehf-euro.com. This is the weekend's and Monday's summary.

The 2012 Women's EHF European Championship in Serbia (4 to 16 December) is just one day away and while the countdown to the throw-off continues to tick down, the number of stories on the host nation and the 16 participating teams steadily increases.

Frafjord: It will be tough but fun
Marit Malm Frafjord has returned to fitness just in time for EURO 2012 after recovering from a shoulder injury, and that is much appreciated by many Norwegian handball fans, as the 27 year old line player and defensive specialist from Danish club Viborg HK is one of the keys to Norwegian success in Serbia. Ungureanu missing for Romania
Following left wing Camelia Hotea’s injury last week, Romania have suffered another setback just days before the start of EHF EURO 2012. After their third-placed finish at EHF EURO 2010, coach Gheorghe Tadici has suffered another big blow, as goalkeeper Paula Ungureanu will not take part in the first two matches against Russia and Iceland. Right mindset is the key
Referees as well as the players will be aiming for a maximum performance at EHF EURO 2012 in Serbia.And while the teams will start training at their respective venues once they have arrived in Serbia, the twelve refereeing pairs at EHF EURO 2012 have already taken to Belgrade's Kombank Arena under the guidance of German performance coach Jürgen Boss. Russia's coach Krokhin names EHF EURO squad
On the last day of the Russian EHF EURO 2012 training camp coach Vitaly Krokhin announced his list of players who will travel to Serbia for the prestigious tournament. Six players; Maria Basarab, Elena Avdekova, Ksenia Milova, Ekaterina Ilyina, Anna Pun'ko and Alexandra Stepanova, will be making their first appearance at a major international handball competition. Ukraine's squad for EHF EURO announced
After the 15th edition of the Turchin Cup which was held in Kiev between 22 and 25 November, Ukraine head coach Leonid Ratner was disappointed. Not only team because of his team's final result – a 4th place behind Hungary, Netherlands, Russia and ahead of Czech Republic and FYR Macedonia. Click here.

 


Sweden, Norway arrive safe and sound
Sweden and Norway arrived at the same time today (Sunday, 2 December) to Belgrade's Nikola Tesla airport and both teams were in a positive frame of mind. Norway, current holders of the women's EHF EURO alongside the Olympic and world titles, start their defence against hosts Serbia on Tuesday. Click here.
