Women´s Cup Winners´ Cup Last 16, first leg preview

The Women’s Cup Winners´ Cup Last 16 will see a reunion of twelve teams, which already participated in the Women´s EHF Champions League Qualification or Group Matches this season.

The match between last season´s semi-finalists HC Leipzig and Norwegian runners-up Byåsen Trondheim will throw off the first leg schedule on Friday, 1 February. The second leg will be played also in Germany, two days later.

Leipzig´s bundesliga rivals, Thüringer HC will enjoy the home support twice as well. The German champions made a double-match agreement with Macedonian title holders WHC Metalurg.

Two more quarter-finalists will be known by Sunday as Rostov-Don host Danish side Team Esbjerg in Russia twice and finally, record champions od Austria, Hypo NÖ will meet the third German participant, TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen twice on the home court in Maria Enzersdorf.

Russian champions Dinamo Volgograd will lock horns with Serbian title holders RK Zaječar and Polish champions Vistal Łączpol Gdynia will meet Spanish outfit Balonmano Bera Bera.

Norwegian side Stabaek Handball will play against the Wild card tournament of the Women´s EHF Champions League participant Issy Paris Hand and Croatian champions, HC Podravka Vegeta will have to find a way through Hungary´s Váci NKSE without recently injured top scorer Sanja Damnjanović.

The remaining four matches of the second leg will be played on 9/10 February.
