Women´s Cup Winners´ Cup Quarter-finals pairings

The draw of the Women’s Cup Winners´ Cup Quarter-finals and Semi-finals took place at the EHF headquarters in Vienna on Tuesday, 12 February 2013. The draw was carried out by the EHF Secretary General Michael Wiederer and the EHF Marketing Women’s Club Board member Tatiana Cojocaru.

The first leg of quarter-finals will be played 9/10 March, second leg one week later. The semi-finals are scheduled for 6/7 April (first leg) and 13/14 April (second leg).

Hungarian outfit Váci NKSE, who beat Croatian champions Podravka in the second leg by ten goals, will have to find their way to the semi-finals through Issy Paris Hand (FRA), the EHF Champions League Wild Card Tournament participant.

Rostov-Don (RUS) will meet another Wild Card participant HC Leipzig. If both Leipzig and Issy qualify, they will encounter each other for the second time in the current season.

“I have to say the draw could have been more generous to us. Russian teams are always very strong and combined with the long travel, this will be no easy match. But we can promise we will do our best and will fight for the semi-finals ticket,” said the Leipzig manager Kay Sven Hähner, who was present at the draw.

Spanish side Balonmano Bera Bera, who qualified through Polish champions from Gdynia despite losing by 12 goals in the first leg, will clash again with the national champions, now from Germany, as they have been drawn against Thüringer HC. The four times EHF Champions League winners and record Austrian champions Hypo NÖ will play against Russian champions Dinamo Volgograd.
