The Slovenian champions have been busy in the transfer market, signing the Bosnian Burić brothers
Senjamin and Benjamin for Gorenje Velenje
Slovenian league champions RK Gorenje Velenje have begun the building of their squad for next season.
Current leader of the domestic Championship and VELUX EHF Champions League Last 16 qualifier has signed deals with Senjamin and Benjamin Burić.
The 23 year-old twins will move to Slovenia from the Bosnia and Herzegovinian club RK Borac Banja Luka.
Benjamin is a goalkeeper, while Senjamin plays as a line player. Both are members of the Bosnian national team and have played for the same team since the beginning of their careers.
“Of course it was an option to separate from my brother.
“However, we decided that it still isn’t the time to go in different ways. Who knows what the future will bring,” Benjamin said to ehfCL.com.
The Burić brothers began playing handball in their home town Maglaj.
They played for RK Izvidjač Ljubuški for three and a half years before moving to the successful club from Banja Luka.
“The biggest motive for transfer to Velenje is playing in the Champions League. That will bring something new in our careers. It wasn’t a hard decision.
“Gorenje has high rating in European handball and great ambitions in domestic competitions. This team is a good challenge for us and an important next step in our careers,” concludes Benjamin Burić, who is one of the best goalkeepers in SEHA league two years in a row.
Gorenje have also announced a deal with right wing Jernej Papež, 22, from MRK Krka Novo Mesto.
On the way out of the club is line-player Dino Bajram, who has signed a deal with Swiss team Pfadi Winterthur for the next two seasons.
