Macedonians snap up French international
Valcea goalkeeper Leynaud set to join ZRK Vardar Skopje
Amandine Leynaud will leave Women’s EHF Champions League participants Oltchim Rm. Valcea to join ZRK Vardar Skopje as the latest addition to the Macedonian team which is looking more formidable with every signing.
The club’s management have confirmed that the transfer has been completed and Leynaud will stay in Skopje until at least June 2014.
The French goalkeeper will move to Skopje in March, and may play as soon as April.
Leynaud hurt herself at the end of August last year during a training session with Romanian club Oltchim Rm. Valcea.
The French international tore a ligament in her left knee and has missed the entire season so far. At the moment, Leynaud is in France finishing her rehabilitation process.
There are currently two goalkeepers in the ZHRK Vardar squad, Russians Ina Suslina and Nigina Saidova, and Leynaud is the fourth player after Andrea Lekic, Jovanka Radichevic, and Julija Nikolic that has signed with the club for next season.
Due to injury, Leynaud has missed the EHF EURO 2012 in Serbia. Previous international achievements include two silver medals at the World Championship in 2009 and 2011, and participation at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
In domestic competition, Leynaud has won seven French League Cup titles and six French League championships with Metz Handball before joining Oltchim Rm. Valcea in the summer.
