Changes in Danish squad

Despite being been quite content with the fifth place at the EHF EURO 2012 in Serbia in December, Denmark´s women’s national team coach Jan Pytlick has made several changes to the squad that played in Serbia, when he nominated his players for the Golden League tournament in France from 20 to 23 March.

The experienced backs Camilla Dalby and Trine Troelsen are back, as are wingers Maria Fisker and Trine Østergaard - in a squad which also contains one debutant, middle back Jan Schumacher from Skive fH.

“We are always looking for new and interesting players, and we have been keeping an eye on Jane Schumacher in particular, as she has been playing a really fine season for Skive fH.

“She is a good player who has performed at a high level, and we are looking forward to testing her in the national team,” assistant national coach Ulrik Kirkely told the website of the Danish Handball Federation.

“Troelsen and Dalby are both highly skilled players with a lot of experience. We know them very well, and we expect this combination of new and experienced players to strengthen the team,” Kirkely added.

In the tournament, which will be played in La Roche-syr-Yon and Nantes, the Danish team will be facing Norway, Russia and the hosts.

“Obviously we would like to win all our matches in France, but there should be no doubt that our overall object is the qualification for the World Championship in Serbia.

“Therefore, we chose to continue building on a good autumn and a fine EURO, and test some new players at the same time,” Ulrik Kirkely said.
