Németh leaves Hypo

Hypo's Hungarian coach will not extend his contract with the Austrian record champions

Németh leaves Hypo

András Németh has confirmed that he will be leaving Hypo NÖ at the end of the season, bringing an end to his second spell in charge at the club.

The 59-year-old re-joined the club last season after two seasons away but has not great success with the club this time around, exiting the Women’s EHF Champions League at the Group Matches twice in a row and a deal between Németh and the club could not be reached.

“We could not discuss the future of the club until now," said András Németh.

"Finally we could sit down on Wednesday to talk, but they could not give me an offer that made it worth staying here."

After reaching the final of the Women’s EHF Champions League with Hypo in 2008, the European Master Coach would have liked to repeat that success in his second stint at the club, but feels that this will not be possible.

“All the other clubs are planning their future for a long time, but we are only playing for time. So I do not think we will have a chance to build a team who can reach the real target - to play amongst the best eight women’s teams in Europe," he said.

"The decision to end our cooperation was made by András, not by the club," stated the club of the record Austrian champions.

Németh has been extremely successful domestically, winning the Hungarian League and the Hungarian Cup seven times with Ferencváros, and the Austrian League three times with Hypo.

Internationally, he has won the EHF Cup with Ferencváros in 2006 and has two Women’s EHF Champions League silver medals from 2002 with Ferencváros and 2008 with Hypo. He has also won a bronze medal with the Hungarian women’s national team at the 2005 World Championship in Russia.
