The draw of the last knock-out stage before the EHF Cup Finals put together the winners of the old EHF Cup last edition Frisch Auf Göppingen and the Slovenian dark horses of the competition from Maribor
Quarter-finals pairings confirmed
All six participants learned their last hurdles on the way to the EHF Cup Finals in Nantes on Tuesday after the draw at the EHF Office in Vienna. The winners of the last edition of the old EHF Cup Frisch Auf Göppingen will face Slovenian dark horse of the competition RK Branik Maribor, the emerging European powerhouse KIF Kolding will take on a surprise package Team Tvis Holstebro in an all-Danish team and only one of two bundesliga favourites Rhein Neckar Löwen and SC Magdeburg will make it to the EHF Cup Finals as they face each other.
The first leg matches will be played 20-21 April, the second leg is scheduled for 27-28 April. The draw of the semi-finals will take place on Tuesday 30 April in Nantes.
The organizers of the final weekend of the newly formatted competition HBC Nantes made it directly to the semi-finals from the group phase as they finished among best three second ranked teams. The EHF Cup Finals will be played in a "final four“ format with two semi-finals on Saturday, 18 May followed by the third place match and the final next day (19 May).
