First qualification tournament for final event in Denmark took place over the Easter weekend
Romania and Slovenia book spots for Women's 19 EHF EURO
Romania and Slovenia are the first two teams that have secured a berth at the Women's 19 EHF EURO in Denmark as they placed first and second respectively in the Group 4 qualification tournament which took place from 29 to 31 March in Romania.
The tournament had been rescheduled from the original playing dates in May as it would have coincided with the high school exams in Poland.
Romania won all their three matches, beating Slovenia 32:24, Great Britain 49:7, and Poland 30:26.
With Dana Andreea Pricopi (19 goals) and Ana-Maria Tanasie (18 goals), Romania furthermore had two of the three top scorers in their ranks.
Slovenia qualified with four points from their three matches, holding the upper hand over Great Britain (41:17) and Poland (27:21).
Poland finished third, Great Britain fourth.
The remaining six qualification groups will all be played from 17 to 19 May, with the two top ranked teams qualifying from Groups 1 to 6 and only the first ranked team qualifying from Group 7.
Denmark as the organiser and second ranked nation at the 2011 Women's 17 European Championship have already qualified.
Russia as the first ranked nation at the 2011 Women's 17 European Championship and Norway as the third ranked nation at the 2011 Women's 17 European Championship have also already qualified.
