The second leg preview of the Women's Challenge Cup final, second leg DHK Baník Most (CZE) vs. ŽRK Samobor (CRO). Follow live and free of charge on ehfTV.com on Sunday, 12 May, at 12.30 local time. First leg: 20:24
A thriller may be expected in Most
Four goals is no big lead in these days' handball, and therefore a thriller may very well be expected on Sunday at noon in a full Sportovní Hala of Most in the north western part of the Czech Republic. The match will be streamed live and free of charge on ehfTV.com.
ŽRK Samobor are leading 24:20 after the first match at home, but the big question is if this will be enough to take the Challenge Cup title in front of a loud and enthusiastic Czech home crowd.
The hall has been sold out for days, and the optimism is large by the handball fans among the 60,000 citizens of Most.
This optimism is combined with pride of what the Black Angels, as the local team is nicknamed, have achieved already.
“Our entire Challenge Cup campaign has been a very pleasant surprise, especially the quarter-finals and semi-finals against Polish Koszalin and Turkish Üsküdar were large challenges for our internationally inexperienced team. We are extremely keen on being the first Czech team ever to win an EHF European title, and we really hope that we can catch up with those four goals and show that handball in our country is on its way up,” Baník Most's head coach Dušan Poloz told eurohandball.com.
There is also confidence by Most's Croatian opponents, though.
“We have a four goal lead to defend in Most, and we will do our best to manage it. It will be hard, but we believe in taking the trophy until the end. You do not play a European Cup final every day,” as Samobor centre back Ivana Lovrić put it after the first match.
