Eleven teams book tickets for Women's 19 EHF EURO 2013

Following an exciting weekend of women's handball, the remaining eleven spots for the Women's 19 EHF EURO in Denmark have been awarded.

Hungary, Czech Republic, France, Portugal, Sweden, Germany, Netherlands, Austria, Spain, Croatia and Slovakia are the teams that prevailed in six qualification tournaments which were played from 17 to 19 May in six countries across Europe.

Denmark as the organisers and second ranked nation at the 2011 Women's 17 European Championship had already qualified.

Russia as the first ranked nation at the 2011 Women's 17 European Championship and Norway as the third ranked nation at the 2011 Women's 17 European Championship had also already qualified for the 16-nation final tournament.

Romania and Slovenia sealed their berths in the group 4 qualification tournament which was already played in March 2013.

Over the course of the qualification weekend from 17 to 19 May, Hungary, France, Sweden, Netherlands and Spain showed the most confident performances with each team winning the maximum of three from three matches in their respective groups.

In group 7 Iceland could not capitalise on the only draw that was played in the entire qualification (a 24-all between Slovakia and Serbia) as they lost the decisive encounter against the hosts, Slovakia, 23:26 on Sunday night.

Group 7 was the only group from which only the first ranked team qualified. The top two ranked teams qualified from groups 1 to 6.

Portugal's Monica Suares became the qualification's top scorer with 25 goals in three matches. Czech Republic's Tereza Pokorna netted 24 times, Spain's Teresa Frances Aguado 23 times.

A complete overview of all qualification matches can be found here.

The final tournament in Denmark takes place from 1 to 11 August 2013.
