Coaches and players of all participating teams presented themselves to more than 100 media representatives
Huge interest of journalists in media call
Ahead of the handball event of the year – the 2013 VELUX EHF FINAL4 - international media had the opportunity to speak with the coaches and players of all four participating teams.
In a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere over 100 journalists conducted Q&As for two hours.
First up were KS Vive Targi Kielce, followed by FC Barcelona Intersport 30 minutes later, then THW Kiel and finally HSV Hamburg. Each team appeared with at least five players plus their head coaches including Slawomir Szmal, Ivan Cupic, Bogdan Wenta (KS Vive Targi Kielce), Viran Morros, Siarhai Rutenka, Xavi Pascual (FC Barcelona Intersport), Daniel Narcisse, Momir Ilic, Alfred Gislason (THW Kiel), Igor Vori, Pascal Hens, Martin Schwalb (HSV Hamburg).
Alongside media from the three countries involved with the teams – Germany, Poland and Spain – there was interest from across Europe and further afield, including the Middle East.
"The huge media interest shows the growing importance of the VELUX EHF FINAL4 in the world of sport and especially handball,” said EHF Head of Media and Communications JJ Rowland.
“It is the biggest event in world club handball and we have accredited over 300 media representatives for the whole weekend perfectly. This reflects the interest from handball fans across the world in this."
Whilst media representatives were busy conducting their interviews, handball fans following the official EHF Champions League Twitter account @ehfcl had the great opportunity to get in direct touch with their heroes including Uros Zorman (KS Vive Targi Kielce), Victor Tomás (FC Barcelona Intersport), Dominik Klein (THW Kiel) and Hans Lindberg (HSV Hamburg) by asking them questions directly.
