Statements after the Women's EHF Champions League draw

Club representatives from several Women's EHF Champions League participants commented on their respective team's chances after the draw for the group phase of the Women's EHF Champions League had been made in Vienna on 28 July.

Here is what they said:

Tamas Szabo – Györi Audi ETO KC

"The celebration of last year's title is over, but of course there was extreme happiness and it gives us extra motivation to repeat the success this year.

"However, it's too early to talk about the title defense. The group we have been drawn to is good with Thüringer HC and Hypo NÖ also being geographically close. That's good for the fans, as ours can go to Vienna and theirs can come to us."

Tor Odvar Moen - Larvik HK

"I am quite happy with the draw. Meeting the newcomer Bera Bera will be exciting. Podravka Vegata is a well-known opponent for us. But it doesn't matter which team we face. We are past that we are trying to think which team to better avoid. We are looking forward to every match."

Bojana Popovic - Buducnost Podgorica

"It's a strong group, definitely not an easy one. But this is the Champions League and if you want to win it, you have to beat every team.

"I think that our team can even go further than last year. We can do even better."

Goran Dujic – RK Krim Mercator Ljubljana

"Two seasons ago we reached the main round. Last season we reached the semi-final. As one of the big clubs we are always aiming to be among the top and that's again the aim for this season."

Karine Sechet - Metz Handball

"We hope we can make a good impression in the Champions League. But we all know that it's not the EHF Cup, so it's going to be very difficult. But there are 5,000 fans backing us and I hope we can make something happen with their backing.

"We are not the favourites, but I am happy that we don't meet Viborg."

Torben Kølbæk - FC Midtjylland

"There are no easy draws. Every match is going to be difficult. Obviously with the signing of Jakob Vestergaard as coach we hope that he can help us. But it is not just all about the coach, it is also about the players."
