VIDEO REPORT: FC Barcelona and Danish national team star came to watch the 2013 European Beach Handball Championships on Thursday and told eurohandball.com whether he could see himself picking up the exciting summer sport
Jesper Nøddesbo pays Randers a visit
The word has been spread that some great beach handball is being played at the 2013 European Championships in Randers.
And it has also reached FC Barcelona line player and Danish international Jesper Nøddesbo (32) who, being on holidays in Denmark, paid the final tournament a visit on Thursday.
It was remarkable as it was Nøddesbo's first visit to a beach handball tournament in his life.
"It's the first time I have been to a beach handball tournament, and it has been quite fun," he told eurohandball.com.
"I had the chance to see the Danish team play, saw the Norwegian women against Denmark and also saw the first half of Spain against Croatia as I know some of the Spanish guys as well."
Nøddesbo also mentioned that he while having tried the sport only once in his life, it gets his 'handball blood' pumping when he sees the Danish team compete.
"I was a teacher at a school which owned some courts. There I tried it but it was not on a level you could compete at.
"When I see an event like this, you want to play. Everytime I see the guys playing the ball, you want to touch it and play yourself.
"But now I am on holidays and I need to relax to get my batteries charged for next season. But never say never."
In a few weeks' time Nøddesbo will go into his seventh consecutive season with Spanish national champions and last season's VELUX EHF Champions League finalist, FC Barcelona.
"I think that in the next year we will fully focus on the Champions League and hopefully that will pay off in the end.
"We got some decent reinforcements (including Kiril Lazarov and Nikola Karabatic) and I am looking forward to playing in this team.
"It might be the best team I have ever played in."
