Draško Nenadić joins VELUX EHF Champions League participants
Flensburg secure Serbian international
German SG Flensburg has announced deal with the Serbian national team player Draško Nenadić for the upcoming season.
The 23-year-old left back, who began his career at RK Crvena zvezda, spent the last two seasons in Spanish ASOBAL league, where he played for Granollers and BM Guadalajara.
The German club were in search of a replacement for left back Lars Kaufmann, who will face a lengthy period off the court after suffering a knee injury.
“We keep our fingers crossed Lars for a speedy recovery. We are therefore pleased about the commitment of a further alternative in the left back.
“In addition, the experience of the last year has shown that the burden of the games in all three competitions is extremely high.
“With Draško we have a young, attractive and very ambitious player who has a lot of potential,” said Flensburg manager Dierk Schmäschke.
"A dream come true"
202 cm tall left back was a member of the Serbian national squad in the last two matches at EHF EURO 2014 qualification with Russia and Bosnia Herzegovina with Ljubomir Vranješ on the bench.
Seven days together were evidently enough for the coach to see the potential in Nenadić.
“Draško is a young and very talented player who will bring SG a lot of joy. He has his strengths both in attack and in defence and is a very complete player with great potential,” said Vranješ.
“It is a dream come true. I can gain experience in one of Europe's best clubs with a very reputable coach. I am very happy and look forward to the Hölle Nord and the great fans,” said the Serbian player, whose older brother Petar Nenadić will be trying to qualify for the VELUX EHF Champions League with side Polish Orlen Wisla Plock.
Flensburg will be in Group D, alongside Aalborg, Gorenje Velenje, Naturhouse La Rioja and two qualifiers.
