Flensburg hit the fairways

SG Flensburg-Handewitt took a break from pre-season training to visit the Hof Berg golf club on the German-Danish border and spent a day playing a round of golf.

"Between the training sessions we wanted to have some fun and everyone should walk ten kilometres," said coach Ljubomir Vranjes.

The squad and some lucky season ticket holders took to the course with their golf clubs. The standard was extremely varied and some players needed some practice time at the driving range and putting green before taking on the 18 holes.

After the players completed their round, the day came to an end with an enjoyable barbeque, hosted by the golf club.

Throwing-off on the sand

Flensburg spent the previous week on the coast of the Swedisb Baltic Sea for their return to handball. The VELUX EHF Champions League participants took part in the Beach Handball Festival of Ahus.

A special focus was on Jim Gottfridsson, who had just moved from Swedish side Ystad to Germany. It was also the first time in Flensburg colours for Drasko Nenadic, who impressed spectators throughout the event.

HK Rimbo from Stockholm were Flensburg’s opponents in the tournament’s final and it was young Luke Blohme, who stepped up to give the Germans a victory.

"Preparation for the new season is not only about running. Strength and handball is also important. These events also help us to grow together as a unit," said team captain Tobias Karlsson.
