Playmaker set to miss EHF EURO 2014 qualifiers, as she expects her second child
Norway without Lunde-Borgersen
Norway will be without Kristine Lunde-Borgersen for their EHF EURO 2014 qualification matches, as well as at the World Championship in Serbia this December. The 33-year-old centre back is expecting her second child.
Lunde-Borgersen has also expressed doubt about whether she will return to the national team afterwards.
“A pregnancy always and never comes at an appropriate time, but of course we are happy,” Kristine Lunde-Borgersen told Norwegian TV2 on behalf of herself and her husband Ole.
The Vipers Kristiansand player admits that returning will be difficult, but refuses to rule a comeback out completely.
“I feel really good in the national team, but I doubt very much that I will be ready to invest that much again. It was extremely tough to get back after my first pregnancy. That was close to my limit.
“However, you should never say never again and I do not want to close the door completely,” she told the Norwegian newspaper VG.
Her twin sister Katrine Lunde Haraldsen, who plays for Women´s EHF Champions League winners Györ from Hungary, is still manning the goal for the Norwegian national team.
Norway are in Group 6 of the EHF EURO 2014 qualification, where they only have two opponents – Romania and Belarus. The Norwegians start their first qualifiers in 11 years with a doubleheader against Romania at the end of October.
