NEWS REPORT: Wisla without top left back for Porto double-header and the rest of 2013
Jurkiewicz injury blow for Wisla
Polish national team and Orlen Wisla Plock player Mariusz Jurkiewicz will be out for two months after suffering a strain in his right bicep.
The 31-year-old will miss not only the match in Dragao Caixa Hall against FC Porto Vitalis but the rest of the calendar year as well.
The left back tried to play while on international duty during the Supercup in Germany against African champions Egypt. However, he was forced to miss the remaining matches against Germany and Sweden.
The Polish left back hurt his muscle in the Polish league match against Pogoń Szczecin. Jurkiewicz started to complain about the injury in the closing stages of the match.
He returned to the bench where he spent the rest of the match with ice on his bicep. Despite his injury, Wisła won 33:21 and are two points behind the domestic league leader KS Vive Targi Kielce.
Further examinations revealed he suffered a muscle strain and will be out for an estimated 4-6 weeks.
Mariusz Jurkiewicz has scored 19 goals in four games so far in the competition, in which Manolo Cadenas’ team are currently fourth in Group C with a chance to advance to the Last 16.
