ROUND REVIEW: Both teams take home wins in Round 5 of the World Championship Qualification Europe and leave the decision about the winner in Group 3 to the next round
Slovenia and Ukraine postpone decision to Round 6
There were no surprises in the last two remaining matches of Round 5 of the World Championship Qualification Europe as Ukraine and Slovenia, the two top teams in Group 3, both recorded victories on Thursday.
Led by Sergii Burka and Mykola Stetsyura, who scored eight goals, Ukraine beat Luxembourg 34:22. They now have nine points on their account.
With eight points after five matches, Slovenia are only trailing by one as they beat Switzerland 31:23. Dragan Gajic was the 'Man of the Match', scoring eleven goals.
The winner of Group 3 will now be decided in the direct encounter between Slovenia and Ukraine on 12 January. Whereas one point will be enough for Ukraine, Slovenia have to win.
Only the group winners advance to the qualification's next stage, the European play-offs, at which they will meet 12 EHF EURO 2014 participants plus Germany to eventually decide nine European teams for the World Championship 2015 in Qatar.
Round 6 will be played on 11 and 12 January. All matches can be followed with the EHF live ticker.
